Collected from swamps and open areas with standing waters and submerged grasses. Quite common in clear, black waters. Reaches 2.5".

Neon Highfin Barb

There appears to be some confusion as to which Oreichthys species is which. I have always identified this fish as O. cosuatis, but I have been told that it is not, but rather an undescribed species. The blue marking on the caudal peduncle is not evident in ordinary light, and is an artifact of flash photography.

Highfin Barb

There appears to be some confusion as to which Oreichthys species is which. I have always identified this fish as O. parvus. Since parvus is not found in India, this is not the case. This may be the true O. cosuatis.
